Completed earlier this year by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a>, the 107.6-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5856" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luminosity107.6m (353'0&quot;)Benetti SpA2020">Luminosity</a> was made possible after a team of expert creatives were given the opportunity to let their imagination run wild. With the exterior designer team made up of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/56" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Reymond Langton Design Ltd. (Company)">Reymond Langton</a>, Hugo van Wieringen of Azure Yacht Design &amp; Naval Architecture, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Zaniz Interiors (Company)">Zaniz Interiors Ltd.</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4478" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giorgio M. Cassetta (Company)">Giorgio M. Cassetta</a>, it was Zaniz Jakubowski who was responsible for the entirety of the intensely detailed interiors. With the superyacht now <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/108m-yacht-luminosity-for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">for sale</a>, the American-British designer has been able to share more details about her work on board. Here, she reveals some of her favourite aspects of the new floating palace.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171291/image/large-ebf0482011df9f1d58d3bae8e71c707e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171291"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/118056/image/large-ee97c5ec6df79c9ac4acb909435c0796.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/118056"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/118055/image/large-48b82ab3a7f7af2e6b3279d62b7c7ecc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/118055">3-metre high ceilingsWith extraordinarily high windows wrapping the main decks, glass is certainly a defining feature of the design, and a large contributor to the yacht’s massive 5,844 GT. As Zaniz explains, over 800-square-meters of glass panels were acquired to satisfy the owner’s detailed brief: “The owner wanted the yacht to be future-proof, which meant that so many aspects, including the technicalities for a hybrid engine, were instilled by the owner in the original notes before we went anywhere near a shipyard. It was all his idea to have unusually high ceilings and larger spaces. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171301/image/large-7de750007f7872beba9c346d052eb895.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171301"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171289/image/large-e78d8c88aaf55188030346365b17fd70.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171289">“I think having worked with such an experienced and knowledgeable client was amazing because it challenged me,” she adds. With a vast amount of space to play with, Zaniz soon created the imaginative 18-metre high video wall that welcomes guests as they board on the main deck and which stretches down around the main stairwell through all six decks. “I wanted to ensure that from whichever area you entered, there was a feeling of light. And so that's why the ceiling has a video feed of the sky around you in the lower deck lobby,” she describes.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/118066/image/large-bc0554318b48a56ad917091db1ade0eb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/118066"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/118067/image/large-f27166e4e9204fe31aa2a3c830f8e321.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/118067">Many flexible spaces “Indoors, everything has a connection to the sea. Notable features such as the frameless glass doors in the gym exist so guests can exercise with the sea breeze if they prefer it over air-conditioning,” Zaniz explains. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/118060/image/large-229f0c8a648060d02af763c522b9b728.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/118060"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171307/image/large-10218de9595305586e339f8d8176d4f0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171307">Another demanding area was the beach club: “It is quite a special space because the beach club had to have so many functions. There are things that nobody would really notice, such as the theatre wall and the swimming pool at the apex. That was my homage to the painter René Magritte and his surrealism, hence why I had curtains sculpted out of limestone next to the television. There's a reason for every element and I think we succeeded very well.” &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171300/image/large-7772c9475258dc3b6e2da4c9f22eba90.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171300"> The intricate details<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5856" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luminosity107.6m (353'0&quot;)Benetti SpA2020">Luminosity</a> is made up of thousands of tiny design details, each and every one meticulously planned by Zaniz and her team to create a magical interior: “The birds seen on the walls floors of the main-deck hallway alongside the video wall have eyes made from five millimetres of black marble with a white ring around it. They are joined by fish and bees, which are represented by the hexagonal shapes you see on the floor and the ceiling in the high-traffic areas. You can follow the bee from the video forest to where it made its way into the hallway, the ceiling and onto the floor. It was so much fun to create and there's always a practical reason for the design.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/172037/image/large-f35c5a0e0327638cffcb091ccbea1973.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/172037">Upon review of the owner’s brief, there were to be no carpets onboard. The solution? Zaniz created shapes from marble to appear as rugs throughout the main living areas. “In the main saloon the dining table is set on some of these marble carpets - which I have made to appear layered as if the rugs are on top of one another.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/171304/image/large-82b9151aa740c9c8d72ee40aecb0c831.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/171304">The extent of the detail even goes onto the selection of materials used. With an exquisite gold sink, one of the guest bathrooms includes “a subtle combination of beautiful materials. With Miami Yacht Show on the horizon, next week is going to be a big week for superyacht designer Giorgio Cassetta. While he is still one of the younger yacht designers around, he is not a man of concepts but has some serious yachts already in-build and on the water. In particular, this year's show is especially important for Cassetta, where several new yachts from the designer's hand will make their public debut. Notably, too, Cassetta also helped to refine the design of Benetti's second 100m+ superyacht, FB272, post-contract which was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/100m-benetti-yacht-launched" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launched earlier this week.</a> With all of this excitement in mind, we sat down with the Italian designer to find out more about his plans for the upcoming year.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/17089/image/large-4cc62e2096e9fe7f0a160cba7f092384.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/17089"> Give us a brief overview of your history and how you got into yacht designI was two years' old, I discovered fresco secco painting at kindergarten and started painting ships, big and small. I never stopped. At 17 I was sketching for my first paying clients, at 22 I graduated with Gianni Zuccon, who was my first mentor, as thesis supervisor. The ball started rolling and in 2013 my own firm was born, after years of practice and dipping into some other design fields.What have been some of the proudest moments in your superyacht design career?Minutes after my first meeting with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> in 2013, when I gained consciousness that things went well and that my pursuit for credibility was paying off, I had tears in my eyes. When we signed the construction contract for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5993" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spectre69.2m (227'0&quot;)Benetti SpA2018">Spectre</a>, my whole team and I were jumping around the room like crazy. I was 31 and, after months of night work and 54 general arrangement revisions, my firm was entrusted with the design of what was set to become an iconic megayacht!In the summer of 2018, in Sicily, I crossed paths with a yacht of my design. The owner invited me on board and hugged me, and told me about the improvement in his quality of life thanks to our work. Last but not least, next week we will present a new project which blends two design cultures that used to be very far away.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63369/image/large-7b4ecde9d3edadbadc0d37767ad0f872.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63369">Give us a bit of an outline of your yacht design career so far: how many boats have you designed that have been completed?As of today, at the age of 35, including the periods when someone else was employing me, I have designed more than 30 yachts ranging from eight to 100+ meters. My firm has more than 15 unique models between those completed and those in build, most are yachts over 30-metres, and this doesn't include the repeated hulls.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63414/image/large-5e030ec31e9c65ac13a1014137ba1c89.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63414">What else is currently in build that has the Giorgio Cassetta design stamp on it?We are happily building two more 65-metre yachts with <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/benetti" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Benetti</a>, and hull 1 and 2 of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/7660" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti Diamond 14544.06m (144'7&quot;)">Diamond 145</a> are in production, with the first one already being sold. We have also put our effort on a smaller production range, between 86 and 100', which is being built by a new brand in Turkey. These will be very interesting boats, designed with owners for owners and with little compromise on quality and cost. Quite a radical approach when it comes to yacht building.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63375/image/large-a8260128f94f579a59220ab6be801ead.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63375">In 2017, you started collaborating with the brand Cigarette Racing Team of Miami and will be presenting their new flagship at Miami. Tell us more about what we can expect from this project.Over my career, I have come across some incredible opportunities. I was able to catch some, with others have been less successful. When Skip Braver (Cigarette Racing owner and CEO) explained his vision for his new flagship, I understood that I had to be a part of it at all costs. I met Skip with little expectations and no idea of what kind of person was about to be in front of me. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/63379/image/large-a9f16ebe1fb7d5b0d0860f7637a0c43f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63379">After a three hour chat, we shook hands and two months later the initial design for the Cigarette Tirranna was there. It has been my most challenging project so far: the level of research, technology, performance and comfort that this boat will offer is unparalleled. We lined up the outstanding technical and design features and got to a bullet-pointed list with more than 250 points. We are aware that we are creating a new market niche, and look forward to seeing the public's reaction to this.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/57038/image/large-062db8d17305458c91c313ecd5773006.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/57038">What else can we expect to see from you at Miami?&nbsp;John Staluppi's new 69-metre yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5993" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spectre69.2m (227'0&quot;)Benetti SpA2018">Spectre</a> will be at the show. Designing Spectre has been wonderful, John and Janette have been so enthusiastic about their new baby and have shed that enthusiasm on everyone involved. Also, my whole design team will attend the Miami show, they are all great people, expect to see them around.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63155/image/large-d03d20f8ad20e17b3096e6574a3e940d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63155">Can you tell us any more about FB272 following her <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/100m-benetti-yacht-launched" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launch</a> earlier this week?&nbsp;FB272 is a game-changing project. Almost ten years ago the owner and Zaniz Jacubowski dreamed of a yacht that was, at the time, almost impossible to build. A crew of visionary people made that challenge possible. Former <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti&nbsp;</a>salesman James Clayton was incredibly dexterous when it came to approaching the client and securing the contract. Andrew North, owner's representative at the time of the signature, brought in his expertise and great experience.The whole <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/159" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burgess (Company)">Burgess</a> team involved, led by Sean Bianchi, was precious, to say the least, and Vincenzo Poerio above all believed that his company was up to the task. Poerio once told me, after a long meeting with the owner over some design details, that he couldn't afford and wouldn't allow this boat to be built if not with concepts that were 15 years ahead of their time.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/62278/image/large-9c34a76d8f2d03ef57794f9063bc2364.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/62278">I was involved, on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti'</a>s suggestion, a little while after the contract was signed. The owner had had some exterior design work done before, but the yacht was changing and evolving and the team needed support. I had little time to prepare and presented my initial work to the owner's team less than two weeks after my involvement. That was the start of very productive collaboration. The vision was always there, I was a helping hand in executing it and bringing it to reality.Yachts are often referred to with many praising adjectives, but projects so incredibly complex like 272 only happen every so long. It was an honour to dance that dance.Is there anything else you’d like to add?We often talk about brands, prestige and marvel, but the key difference in everyone’s experience are the people surrounding us. I have been blessed with many people who put their trust in me and to them I am grateful. It is impossible to name them all, but allow me to express a heartfelt thank you to my team, keep up the good work folks!

Two weeks ago SuperYacht Times <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/100m-benetti-yacht" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">revealed the first photos</a> of the new 100m+ Benetti FB272 as she was moved out of her construction shed. As of Tuesday this week, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> has now launched its second 100m+ yacht in Livorno, Italy: the 107.6-metre Project FB272. The vessel was originally contracted by the Italian shipyard in 2014 and is due for delivery later this year.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63154/image/large-0e2a0e0adc1afe8eff67511c5bcff842.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63154">FB272's unique profile was conceived by the owner and she has a total of six decks. Prior to going to contract, the owner spent significant time in the development of the exterior design, initially with Hugo van Wieringen from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/37" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture (Company)">Azure Naval Architects</a> and then with the assistance of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/56" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Reymond Langton Design Ltd. (Company)">Raymond Langton Design</a> and Zaniz Jakubowski of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Zaniz Interiors (Company)">Zaniz Interiors.&nbsp;</a>The exterior design was refined post contract with the assistance of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4478" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giorgio M. Cassetta (Company)">Giorgio Cassetta,&nbsp;</a>supporting <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Zaniz Interiors (Company)">Zaniz Interiors</a> who took over responsibility for both the exterior and interior design of the yacht.Performance-wise, she is fitted with a hybrid propulsion system with diesel-electric engines and two Azipod propulsion units connected to a special battery pack to enable totally vibration-free and silent navigation, as desired by her owner. The generation/propulsion package is obtained by six generators of approximately 1,000 KW each.&nbsp;The electricity produced by those generators is managed electronically, by a fully integrated power management system, to feed the consumption of the services on board and the electric motors of two Azipods of 2,200 KW each. This spare electricity is also used to charge 35 tons of batteries which can operate the yacht for up to 12 hours with no engine running. Regarding speed, FB272 can reach a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63153/image/large-4789d9362a730cebe109dc0a97134125.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63153">FB272 has a volume of 5500 GT and is built to Lloyd's Register Class. The interior design maintains a sense of connection with the outside world, according to the shipyard, with three-metre high windows flooding the interiors with light and including a total of 800 square metres of window glass. FB272's exterior lines include a straight bow and a huge forward deck area.On board, she also includes a helicopter pad with fuelling station. Additionally, she also features an advanced Lutron domotic system with approximately 500 kilometres of cable running across her hull and superstructure.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/63155/image/large-d03d20f8ad20e17b3096e6574a3e940d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/63155">Her main deck offers ample dining and social spaces which are sheltered by the overhang of her superstructure. Vast quantities of glass wrap the main decks, with the hull featuring a long horizontal strip of glazing from mid-ship to stern. Windows on the upper decks are entirely uninterrupted by the structure, giving each deck a floating appearance. &nbsp;Azimut Benetti’s President Paolo Vitelli commented on the launch, “On this auspicious day, I could not be prouder to stand here among&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti’s</a>&nbsp;family, friends and colleagues to witness the launch of our latest enthralling creation. This iconic project has had a huge impact on local industry and, after more than 2 million hours of skilled work from over 100 suppliers, we can truly pronounce her as a wonderful achievement for Livorno and the “Made In Italy” ethos as a whole."2019 is set to be an eventful year for <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/benetti">Benetti</a> as the Italian yard will deliver three yachts over 100 metres. Project FB277 <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/benetti-fb-277-yacht-launch" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">touched water in December 2018</a> and FB275 will follow in April.

Project FB277 was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/benetti-fb-277-yacht-launch" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launched in December 2018</a> and FB275 will follow in April of this year.
